A short detour off the main road between Kefalas and Vamos to the village of Litsarda can provide a chance to walk around a traditional village and admire the views across to the White Mountains. The local taverna specializes in pizza and a flock of sheep with the shepherd are often seen walking down the centre of the village in the evening. Visit the archaeologically interesting cave of Dafne or Tripa. It is worth stopping in the village to visit the church with its fine wood-carved reredos and icons made by the local Rethymnian, Vivilakis of Panagia .
