The tiny village of Loutro on the South coast of Crete is a very special place. With just a handful of small hotels and apartments, a few choice tavernas, cafes and three shops, Loutro is surrounded by a wealth of natural beauty and history. Only reachable by sea this is the perfect place for those wishing to relax and enjoy some of the wonders of Sfakia.

Loutro has no road so therefore no cars. The buildings are only steps from the waters edge. Porto Loutro Hotel is a special unique place. Owned and run by the equally unique and lovely Alison Androulakaki, who although English has spent the best part of her life living in Crete. She takes extra special care of her guests and her hotel once visited will enchant you and you will want to return again and again.

The hotel, created with quality, comfort and simplicity in mind, is made up of two buildings. Hotel Porto Loutro I is in the middle of the beach - the rooms are five steps from the water -  for those who like to open the door, fling their towel on a lounge chair and read, swim, chat or sunbathe. Hotel Porto Loutro ll stands overlooking Loutro and its sparkling bay, surrounded by dramatic and soul-calming mountains, hardly a one minute stroll to dive into the clear water below. Both have a cafe/bar where breakfast is served to the soothing sounds of classical music and enjoy splendid views.

The sea is clear and full of different varieties of fish, whilst the hillsides are covered in pathways shared with the local goats and exposing more stunning views at each turn. Days can be spent swimming and sunbathing or exploring the surrounding hillsides. The nearby beaches of Marmara or Sweetwater are well worth a visit either on foot or by sea taxi.

Evenings are for gin and tonics as you watch the sun go down and leisurely meals at the nearby tavernas. Laughter and conversation are the order of the day here. For the perfect relaxing summer holiday, look no further.
